Islamic center opens in Ocean county by The Star-Ledger Continuous News Desk Monday April 21, 2008, 5:36 AM The Islamic Center of Ocean County celebrated its grand opening Saturday with prayers, poetry and scripture, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press. The report said the Muslim community in Ocean County had been renting a small space in a Lakewood storefront since 1988. In 1992, the Ocean Islamic Center purchased a lot at Routes 70 and 527.
